Today I received a delightful email from Linda and Susan at Glimmer Train that one of my super new stories, “Samkaup,” was a ‘finalist’ for Glimmer Train’s Very Short Fiction Award. Very excited for the encouragement, and soon this little story will set out in search of a new home!
Dearest friends- I’m reading at, what I anticipate to be, a very lovely event with some other lovely women writers on Wed. Nov 1, 7pm at Jade Lounge in Portland. How can you resist these fall leaves & pine cones?
I have a new little story, “Mink,” up at Wigleaf. I have such respect for this wonderful journal and am thrilled to called it a home.
This Friday, Oct. 6, I will be reading at a benefit to help raise money for Houston Immigration Services. There will also be some great vendors, live music & food + other readers! All the money goes to a good cause, and I’ll have books and will be donating those sales.
The lovely poet, Mary Lenoir Bond, interviewed me over at Barrelhouse, about magical realism, studying with Katherine Dunn, Wisconsin, and the desire for human touch. Check it out here!
I’m spending three weeks at Gullkistan in Laugarvatn, Iceland to work on some new stories. Here, steam rises from the mountains, sheep roam the hills, the sky shifts in pinks and blues.
I’ve been a little crazy about Paper Darts for some time, and now I have a story here with a super adorable illustration by Maya Beck, complete with neon hair & lightning bolt.
I put on my best sassy face and mock turtle neck for one of the best annual literary events in Portland. Big thanks to all who came out to Smallpressapalooza 2017!
Tomorrow I’ll be reading with the talented Keith Rosson to celebrate the release of his novel, The Mercy of the Tide, from Meerkat Press. I’ll be signing and selling copies of Our Reincarnated, and there will also be a give-away, lots of happy faces and good fun.
7pm, Mother Foucault’s Bookshop, Portland.
One of the greatest bookstores in the world is now a warm home to Our Reincarnated. Head on over to Powell’s and check out all of the amazing indie authors!
